A reliable kitchen sequence
Step 1
Empty and sort
Remove food, liners, loose shelves, rubbish, and personal appliances; set aside anything that must stay with the property.
Step 2
Vacuum dry debris
Clear crumbs from cupboards, drawers, corners, appliance gaps, and kickboards before applying wet products.
Step 3
Work from high to low
Clean cabinet tops where safely reachable, rangehood exterior, splashback, fronts, benches, sink, and lower storage.
Step 4
Finish details and floor
Check handles, edges, switches, skirting, appliance spaces, then clean the floor toward the exit.
Kitchen details commonly missed
- Undersides of wall cabinets, shelf supports, drawer corners, and cupboard hinge areas.
- Rangehood surfaces and filters included in the agreed scope.
- Tap bases, sink overflow areas, draining grooves, plugs, and removable strainers.
- Grease on handles, the sides of cabinetry, kickboards, and the wall near cooking areas.
- Dust and debris in fridge, dishwasher, or freestanding-oven spaces once safely accessible.
- Bins, recycling storage, pantry corners, and food residue that could attract pests.
Use surface-appropriate products
Stone, laminate, timber, stainless steel, glass, painted cabinetry, and appliance coatings can react differently. Check manufacturer or property instructions and test cautiously in an inconspicuous spot when appropriate.
Never mix products, and do not dismantle gas, electrical, plumbing, extraction, or built-in appliance components. Escalate faults or unsafe conditions instead of treating them as cleaning jobs.
Photograph the empty kitchen
Once surfaces are dry, take wide photos and a few detail photos of the oven or other separately agreed items. This creates a clearer handover record than close-ups alone.
